How do I log in to Synapse Chat?
Open the app, enter the email address and password of your Synapse account and tap “Sign In”. If you don’t have an account yet, you can register for free at synapse.schaefer.zone.
How do I enable push notifications?
On first login, the app automatically asks for permission. If you previously declined, open iOS Settings → Synapse Chat → Notifications and enable “Allow Notifications”. On the Synapse server, you can additionally specify which events you want to be notified about.
How do I send a file to the AI?
In the chat, tap the paperclip icon to the left of the input field and select a file from the file picker. The file is uploaded to the Synapse server and made available to the AI as context. PDFs, images, text files and common document formats up to 25 MB are supported.
How do I reply to a specific message?
Swipe right on a chat message (or long-press it) and choose “Reply”. The original message appears as a quote above your input field. Tap “Cancel” to remove the reply quote.
Does Synapse Chat work on multiple devices at the same time?
Yes. Simply log in with the same account on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. Your conversations are synced in real time across all devices. Push notifications are managed per device.
How do I change the app language?
By default the app follows your device’s system language. Alternatively you can select one of the 20 supported languages under iOS Settings → Synapse Chat → Language.
How do I turn on Dark Mode?
Open the app settings (gear icon) → Appearance and choose between “Automatic”, “Light” and “Dark”. In Automatic mode the app follows your iOS display settings.
Can I export my chat history?
Yes. Log in on the web at synapse.schaefer.zone, open a conversation and choose “Export”. The history is downloaded as JSON or Markdown.
What do I do if I forgot my password?
Open the login page at synapse.schaefer.zone, click “Forgot password” and follow the instructions in the email. The app itself does not store passwords — they are managed exclusively on the server.
How do I report a bug?
Best via our GitLab repo: open an issue. Alternatively by email to synapse@schaefer.zone with description, app version, iOS version and screenshot if applicable.
